Public <br />Library <br />ATTACHMENT B <br />Year 1 Levy Report <br />Building Our Expanded Services <br />�i <br />+ <br />More hours More programs More materials lrxpanded services <br />and access for all ages and technology for 5 years <br />On November 3, 2015, City of Eugene voters approved Measure 20-235 to fund expanded <br />Eugene Public Library services for five years beginning in July 2016. <br />Eugene Public Library (EPL) supports an informed community, lifelong learning, and the love of <br />reading by providing access for all city residents to the universe of ideas and information. The <br />levy funds provide increased hours, free programs, and materials and technology at all Eugene <br />Public Library locations: Downtown, Bethel, and Sheldon. These expansion areas were selected <br />in response to the community needs expressed during Library of the Future community <br />engagement efforts. <br />This report covers the time period of July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017 (FYI 7). <br />F,�� More Hours and Access <br />Levy Promise: The levy added 22 hours each week at the neighborhood Bethel <br />and Sheldon Branches, bringing each to a total of 48 open hours across six days. <br />Sunday morning hours were restored at the Downtown Library. <br />Increased open hours began July 1, 2016. <br />FYI 7 Open Hours - Total Visitors for the Year <br />Library visits: 1 ,1 37,194 (10% increase from last year) <br />Increased hours provided more opportunities for <br />cardholders to come and borrow materials. <br />Circulation in FYI 7 <br />Downtown Library: 2,140,644 <br />Bethel Branch: 1 53,253 <br />Sheldon Branch: 208,367 <br />Electronic Materials: 187,427 <br />2,689,691 (10% increase from last year) <br />Total Registered Borrowers: 101,655 which is an <br />increase of 2,895 from the previous year. <br />Expanding the volunteer program at EPL contributed to the increased access offered to all <br />Eugeneans. In FYI 7, 92 new volunteers joined existing EPL volunteers, now totaling 267 <br />community members volunteering. <br />
