PURCHASE OF DISPOSAL SITE ON TERRY STREET

tit

City Manager Micheal Gleason asked the council to authoriz~ the purchase of a
disposal site on Terry Street. He said the site will be used to dispose of
rubble that accumulates on the west side of Eugene. He said it is expensive to
truck rubble across town.

Answering questions from Ms. Ehrman, Mr. Gleason said permits werp. obtained
from the Department of Environmental Quality and the City will maintain
records about what is put in the disposal site. Bob Hammitt of the Public
Works Department said the site will be used for about five years.

Replying to questions from Mr. Miller, Mr. Hammitt said the site is about
2,000 feet from residential development. He said the site is a borrow pit and
it will look like a large pit with dirt in it as the City puts material in it.

Answering questions from Mr. Rutan and Mr. Holmer, Mr. Gleason said the $2,000
from the Sewer Utility Fund and $1,000 from the General Fund will be used to
purchase the site. The price is excellent for the City. The property will
eventually be a buildable site. Mr. Gleason said he will investigate the
assessed value of the site.

Ms. Ehrman moved, seconded by Mr. Holmer, to authorize the City
Manager to purchase property on Terry Street.
