She said a decision about building a swimming pool
has not been made.

Mr. Gleason said he recommends the council purchase Lincoln School only if the
building is demolished because of the poor condition of the building and
because the building will not meet the future needs of the city.

Mayor Obie emphasized that no decision has been made about a swimming pool.

Ms. Ehrman moved, seconded by Mr. Holmer, to refer the
tentative proposal to purchase Lincoln School to the Joint
Parks Committee and the Community Development Committee for a
recommendation to the council.

Answering a question from Mayor Obie, Mr. Porter said the 4J School Board
tentatively approved the proposal. Approval of the council's motion would
probably delay the proposal.

Ms. Ehrman and Mr. Holmer agreed to change the motion somewhat. The motion
is:
Ms. Ehrman moved, seconded by Mr. Holmer, to give tentative
approval of the staff recommendation for the purchase of
Lincoln School subject to review of the proposal and a report
to the council from the Joint Parks Committee and the
Community Development Committee. The motion carried
unanimously, 8:0.

Mayor Obie adjourned the meeting at 1:30 p.m.
RespectfUl~y~SUbmitted
~ ---
M~c;~~ason

City Manager

(Recorded by Betty Lou Rarick)

mncc0610

MINUTES--Eugene City Council

June 10, 1987

Page 13
