<br />E. The Gut <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Ms. Schue said the behavior of some people on South Willamette Street (The <br />Gut) on weekends has been bad but progress is being made. She said the "no <br />left turn II signs have helped. She said a meeting that she, City Manager <br />Micheal Gleason, police officials) Neighborhood Liaison Christine Donahue) <br />and some neighbors attended was constructive. She said people realize that <br />City officials are working on the problem. <br /> <br />F. Broadway <br /> <br />Mr. Holmer said Jan Bohman of the Development Department is taking a public <br />opinion poll to see whether people prefer to call the street simply "Broadway" <br />or "Broadway Street. II <br /> <br />G. Technological Developments Concerning Infrastructure <br /> <br />Mr. Holmer said he attended a meeting with about 30 other people concerned <br />about technological developments in infrastructure. He said the Mayor of St. <br />Paul, Minnesota) has arranged for the planting of 62,000 trees because of <br />losses due to Dutch Elm Disease. Mr. Holmer reviewed some other subjects <br />discussed at the meeting. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />H. Eugene/Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau <br /> <br />Mr. Miller said he and Ms. Bascom represented the council at a recent dinner <br />of the Eugene/Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Miller said <br />estimates indicate that revenue from the Transient Room Tax will increase this <br />year about five percent. He wondered about the impact of that increase on <br />decisions the council has made. <br /> <br />I. Supreme Court Decision Concerning Land Use <br /> <br />Ms. Wooten asked for a report from the City Attorney about the "taking" issue <br />and its significance for the City as a result of the United States Supreme <br />Court decision in the case of First English Evangelical Lutheran <br />Church of Glendale vs. County of Los Angeles, California. <br /> <br />J. Maintenance of Millrace <br /> <br />Ms. Wooten said she would like to encourage the cleaning up of the millrace. <br />She said she previously asked for a report about it. Assistant City Manager <br />Dave Whitlow said a report will be sent to the council June 12, 1987. <br /> <br />K.
