ORDINANCE INCREASING TRANSIENT ROOM TAX AND RESOLUTION ALLOCATING NET <br /> REVENUES <br /> City Manager Micheal Gleason introduced the item. He said approval of the <br /> ordinance and resolution would provide funds for the rehabilitation of Hayward <br /> Field at the University of Oregon. <br /> CB 2969--An ordinance concerning Room Tax; amending Sections <br /> 3.772 and 3.774 of the Eugene Codet 1971; providing an <br /> effective date; and declaring an emergency. <br /> Ms. Ehrman movedt seconded by Mr. Holmert that the bill be <br /> read the second time by council bill number onlYt with unanimous <br /> consent of the council t and that enactment be considered at this <br /> time. <br /> Mayor Obie said the passage of the ordinance will be significant because, for <br /> the first time, Eugene, Springfield, and Lane County will cooperate with the <br /> University of Oregon to provide track facilities at the University. Mayor <br /> Obie directed the City Manager to ensure that the contract recognizes the <br /> community's access and use of Hayward Field. Mayor Obie suggested a survey of <br /> e public users to determine appropriate public use of the facility. He directed <br /> the City Manager to report to the council before the contract is signed. <br /> Ms. Ehrman suggested a plaque be installed at Hayward Field to recognized the <br /> contribution of the community. <br /> Roll call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 8:0. <br /> Council Bill 2969 was read the second time by council bill number only. <br /> Ms. Ehrman moved, seconded by Mr. Holmer, that the bill be <br /> approved and given final passage. Roll call vote; all <br /> councilors present voting aye, the bill was declared passed <br /> (and became Ordinance No. 19486). <br /> Res. No. 4045--A resolution concerning Room Tax funds; repealing <br /> Resolution Nos. 3886 and 3947; and adopting new <br /> guidelines. <br /> Ms. Ehrman moved, seconded by Mr. Holmer, to adopt the <br /> resolution. <br /> Referring to Section 6 of the resolution, Mr. Holmer said approval of the <br /> resolution will result in about $260,000 being allocated from Transient Room <br /> e MINUTES--Eugene City Council June 22, 1987 Page 14 <br />
