EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD METROPOLITAN PARTNERSHIP QUARTERLY REPORT <br /> City Manager Micheal Gleason introduced the item. Chuck Nozi cka, of the <br /> Eugene/Springfield Metropolitan Partnership, presented the quarterly report <br /> for the second quarter of 1987. <br /> Mr. Nozicka said administrative issues included developing a specific work <br /> plan, which would consist of a list of priority activities not unlike those of <br /> the Eugene Development Department. He also said the partnership was expected <br /> to undergo an evaluation process to occur in early 1988, and likely to involve <br /> e trading directors with another agency outside of the area or the State. He <br /> said an evaluation then would be submitted to a commi ttee or to the <br /> Coordinating Council of the Metropolitan Partnership. <br /> Mr. Nozicka reviewed highlights of recruitment activity. He said partnership <br /> staff would be working with planning staffs on economic working papers for the <br /> Metropolitan Plan update. He said marketing activity included narrowing down <br /> a target list for active recruitment missions to California in the fall. <br /> Mr. Nozicka said the Metro Products Forest Council was planning for a November <br /> visit from a Swedish manufactured housing firm. He also said the Willamette <br /> Valley World Trade Center was underway meeting monthly and offeri ng <br /> import/export counseling to firms. He added that TCI cable advert is i ng <br /> recently had been contributed to the partnership and that a fundraising <br /> campaign was underway. <br /> Mr. Rutan said he had been involved with partnership efforts to recruit food <br /> product industries. He compl imented the partnership for operating in a <br /> thorough, professional fashion in recruiting. He also said he would welcome <br /> the industry. <br /> Mayor Obie said he agreed, adding that he had heard good reports about the <br /> presentation to a telecommunications company.
