RIVERFRONT RESEARCH PARK DEVELOPER NEGOTIATIONS <br /> Cathy Briner, Planning and Development Department, reported that the <br /> Riverfront Research Park Commission conducted a thorough recruitment and <br /> selection process and recommended the selection of Institutional Development <br /> Associates (IDA) of Salt Lake City, Utah to be the preferred developer of the <br /> Riverfront Research Park on a phased basis. <br /> Answering a question from Ms. Ehrman, Ms. Briner said IDA did not respond to <br /> the initial Request For Proposals in 1986. <br /> Ms. Bascom moved, seconded by Ms. Schue, to approve the <br /> recommendation of the Riverfront Research Park Commission for <br /> City and University staff to negotiate with Institutional <br /> e Development Associates (IDA) as the preferred developer of <br /> the Riverfront Research Park project on a phased basis. Roll <br /> call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 5:0. <br /> Mayor Miller adjourned the meeting of the Eugene Renewal Agency and <br /> reconvened the meeting of the Eugene City Council. <br /> University of Oregon Vice President John Moseley read a letter from <br /> University of Oregon President Myles Brand expressing support for the <br /> recommendation just approved by the Eugene Renewal Agency and committing his <br /> staff to working with the City to negotiate the lease and development <br /> agreement and to cooperate with the developer's marketing efforts and with <br /> their architect and other subcontractors in the preliminary site and building <br /> design phases. Dr. Brandis letter stressed the importance of the park's <br /> tenants engaging in research and development that complements the research <br /> and educational functions of the University.
