No. 3658--A resolution authorizing the payment of bills and
claims for the period April 28, 1982, through
4It May 12, 1982.

Councilor Haws asked for further clarification of the payments of $7,860 to
O'Connell Enterprises, Inc., and of $3,646.72 to Valentine's Travel. Ernie
Drapela, Director, Parks and Recreation, said that the two amounts represented
payments for senior citizen trips organized by the Parks and Recreation depart-
ment. He said that the trips had already taken place and that the City had been
fully reimbursed. Mr. Hamel said that he had also been concerned about these
payments. Mr. Haws said that a local travel agent had recently declared bank-
ruptcy and that, because the bonding of the agent was not sufficient to pay all
debts owed, the agent's customers would not be reimbursed for amounts already
paid. Mr. Haws urged that the City consider the possibility of such an occur-
rence when it selects and makes payments to travel agents.

Mr. Obie moved, seconded by Ms. Schue, to adopt the resolution.
Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously.

III.
