Hamel, Gretchen Miller, Brian Obie, <br /> Emily Schue, Betty Smith, Cynthia Wooten. <br /> COUNCILOR ABSENT: Mark Lindberg. <br /> Adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called <br /> to order by Council President Brian Obie. <br /> 1. ITEMS FROM MAYOR AND COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS <br /> A. Request for Update on Bonneville Power Administration Transmission Line <br /> Councilor Wooten asked for an update on the BPA transmission line that had been <br /> proposed to run through South Eugene. Mr. Whitlow said staff would provide this <br /> information on the first available council agenda. <br /> B. Appointments <br />- Mr. Obie said that the council would be considering Mayor Keller1s nomination of <br /> John Gregor to the Performing Arts Commission. <br /> Ms. Schue moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, to appoint John Gregor, <br /> 975 Oak, to the Performing Arts Commission for a term to expire <br /> January 1, 1986. Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously. <br /> C. Status Report from Eugene Arts Foundation <br /> Assistant City Manager David Whitlow introduced Benson Snyder, director of the <br /> Eugene Arts Foundation. Mr. Snyder said that the foundation had made commitments <br /> of $1,809,845 to the Performing Arts Center, including $389,00 for operating <br /> support. He said that the broad-scale community fundraising effort had been <br /> postponed until after the opening of the center. Mr. Snyder said that gifts <br /> raised to date totaled $4.92 million, with $3.4 million contributed toward the <br /> $5.5 million goal for capital enhancement and operating support and $1.5 million <br /> committed to an endowment for support of major local performing arts groups. <br /> Mayor Keller arrived at the meeting. <br /> Mr. Snyder said this $1.5 million endowment had been given by Carolyn Silva- <br /> Chambers in memory of her parents, Julio W. and Elizabeth M. Silva. He said <br /> that the foundation had passed a resolution requesting the council to name the <br /> large concert hall Silva Hall to ~ommemorate this gift. <br />- <br /> MINUTES--Eugene City Council September 8, 1982 Page 1 <br />
