DETERMINE PLANNING COMMISSION, DOWNTOWN COMMISSION, AND CITIZEN
INVOLVEMENT COMMITTEE INTERVIEWEES AND ESTABLISH INTERVIEW TIME
Jeff Reingold had told Mr. Obie that he had assumed he was a candidate for the
Downtown Commission because he had applied for the last vacancy. Therefore,
Mr. Obie added Mr. Reingold's name to the list of candidates.
The Councilors began discussing the Citizen Involvement Committee (CIC)
nominations and then decided to proceed with the other groups first.
Mayor Keller said Jim Ellison had received 4 votes and Jerry Gaydos, Otto
Glausi, John Potter, Hugh Prichard, and John Van Landingham had each received
three votes.
Mr. Obie moved, seconded by Mr. Hansen, to interview
Mr. Ellison, Mr. Gaydos, Mr. Glausi. Mr. Potter,
Mr. Prichard, and Mr. Van Landingham for the Planning
Commission vacancies. Roll call vote; the motion
carried unanimously, 5:0.
Ms. Wooten was told Mr. Prichard applied for the Planning Commission after he
e was appoi nted to the Downtown Commission and Mr. Gaydos knew he was a
candidate for the Planning Commission when he was appointed to the
Metropolitan Area Planning Advisary Committee.
Reviewing the balloting for the Downtown Commission, Mayor Keller said James
McCoy and Donald Genasci had each received six votes, Roger Neustadter had
received five votes, and Joyce Slusher and Jeff Reingold had each received
three votes.
Ms. Wooten moved to interview Mr. McCoy, Mr. Genasci,
and Mr. Neustadter for the Downtown Commission.
The motion was not seconded and she withdrew it.
Ms. Schue pointed out the three incumbents had received the most votes and
the other two candidates had recently been interviewed by the Council. She
suggested the Council appoint the incumbents. Mayor Keller wished the Council
had a policy about reappointing incumbents. The decision to reappoint could
be made before the positions are advertised. He felt it is unfair to
advertise for candidates and then reappoint the incumbents.
Mr. Hansen did not want to reappoint incumbents automatically. Mr. Holmer
felt incumbents sahould be interviewed and compared with new applicants. Mr.
Obie was undecided about the reappointments and wanted to interview the
incumbents. He pointed out Mr. Holmer and Mr. Hansen, as well as Ms. Erhman
and Ms. Bascom, had not interviewed the incumbents.
e Ms. Wooten moved, seconded by Mr. Obie, to interview
MINUTES--Eugene City Council November 19, 1984 Page 6
