Councilor Miller, referring to Item 15.b., stated that he understood the City
- was in the process of evaluating a variety of golf alternatives. He asked if
the inclusion of Item 15.b. would interfere in the process of obtaining a
quality 18- or 27-hole golf course. In response to a question by Mr. Miller,
Mr. Etter said he was unsure if the item had been discussed with the Golf
Committee. He said that Parks and Recreation Department Director Ernie
Drapela did not wish to put additional funds into Laurelwood Golf Course.
He said he did not believe Item 15.b. would skew any decision by the Golf
COl1ll1ittee.
Councilor Wooten said she supported Mr. Holmer's request in adopting the
changes as made by the City Council in adopting the Cul ture/Leisure Plan but
did not support his suggestion to include the limited resources statement from
that plan nor any change to Item 2.c. He felt that the acquisition of the Maude Kerns Center be
included for consideration. Councilor Ehrman said she did not feel the Maude
Kerns issue should be included at the present time, stating that it could be
included in the yearly review. Councilor Wooten said she would like to see a
recol1ll1endation on the issue from the Joint Parks Committee for inclusion in
the present Master Plan Update because of the dire situation of the Maude
Kerns Center.
Councilor Miller, referring to the golf course issue, stated that it should be
clarified that any action by the Parks Department should not interfere with
the actions of the Golf Committee.
