RESOLUTION CONCERNING ROOM TAX FUNDS (memo, resolution, background
information distributed)
City Manager Michea1 Gleason introduced the agenda item.
Answering questions from Ms. Ehrman, Assistant Manager Whitlow reviewed the
original allocations. He said the arts groups will receive $1,000 to $2,000
more a year if actual gross revenues collected in the 1984-85 year are used
as recommended.
Responding to a question from Ms. Wooten, Mr. Whitlow said $10,000 is
deducted annually from gross revenues of the room tax fund for expenses of
the Administrative Services Department.
Ms. Wooten said she supported the re-allocation plan for room tax funds
reluctantly and would also support the proposed resolution reluctantly. She
did not think the economy will improve enough for the five major arts
organizations to be able to obtain private contributions to replace the room
tax funds. She did not want to support something that will lead to the
demise of the major arts organizations. She would like to review the
financing and have some recourse if the program fails.
e
MINUTES--Eugene City Council October 23, 1985 Page 4
