VI. DETERMINE INTERVIEWEES FOR DOWNTOWN COMMISSION OPENINGS/SET INTERVIEW -- TIME Answering a question from Mr. Miller, Mayor Obie said the council will interview candidates for the Downtown Commission on November 18, 1985. Ms. Wooten announced the following results of the balloting: Name Number of Votes - Michael Schwartz 7 Dean Owens 5 Julie Aspinwall-Lambert 4 Beatrice Bridgeman 3 Steven Caffery 3 David Funk 3 Rona 1 d Gi etter 3 Christine Miller 3 Joyce Slusher 2 Kip Amend 1 H. Stewart Burge 1 Stephens Harter 1 Joyce Nichols 1 Jeff Reingold 1 John Rose 1 Sharon Woods 1 . Ms. Wooten said the two candidates with the most votes who are eligible only for an at-large position are Beatrice Bridgemen and Julie Aspinwall-Lambert. Mr. Hansen said anyone is eligible for at-large positions. Mayor Obie said the three positions that will be vacant in January are those currently held by Dean Owens, Michael Schwartz, and Tom Schott. Ms. Wooten moved, seconded by Mr. Hansen, to interview the eight candidates who received the most votes. The motion carried, 7: 1. Ms. Wooten, Mr. Hansen, Ms. Schue, Mr. Holmer, Ms. Ehrman, Mr. Miller, and Ms. Bascom voted aye. Mr. Rutan voted nay. Mayor Obie adjourned the meeting at 8:30 p.m. and reopened it at 8:35 p.m. Mr. Hansen said that only one new Downtown Commissioner would be appointed if the two present commissioners (Mr. Schwartz and Mr. Owens) are reappointed. Mr. Rutan favored reappointing Mr. Schwartz and Mr. Owens at this time and, in that case, he thought interviewing six people for one position was inappropriate. Mr. Hansen moved, seconded by Mr. Rutan, to reappoint Mr. Schwartz and Mr. Owens to the Downtown Commission and to submit ballots again for two people to be interviewed for the - at-large position on the Downtown Commission.
