<br />, <br />-~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br />e A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE LONG RANGE PLAN <br /> FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES. <br /> The City Council of the City of Eugene finds as follows: <br /> 1. The Eugene Fire and Emergency Services Department provides <br /> fire protection and emergency medical services to the City of Eugene <br /> and nearby areas. Emergency Medical Services, operated in conjunction <br /> with neighboring fire departments, provide life support and emergency <br /> medical transportation to an area of 3,000 square miles in central <br /> Lane County. <br /> 2. Advance planning is necessary to ensure that the Fire and <br /> Emergency Services Department continues to adapt to local conditions <br /> and meets the future need of the community. <br /> 3. The Fire and Emergency Services Department has prepared <br />- a Long Range Plan for Fire and Emergency Services (Plan) . This <br /> . ~lan has been recommended by the Citizen Advisory Group and the <br /> Planning Commission. The Plan contains goals, policies, implemen- <br /> tation strategies and time frames. <br /> 4. The Plan is consistent with the 1984 Eugene Community Goals <br /> and Policies document, the Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Area <br /> General Plan and other applicable City policies and planning docu- <br /> ments. <br /> 5. In approving the first four sections of the Plan, the City <br /> Council recognizes that the Plan sets targets and goals, some of <br /> which may not be immediately attainable. Implementation of the <br /> goals, policies, and strategies will-depend upon the availability <br /> , <br />- of financial resources, the financial needs of other areas of <br /> municipal activities, and more specific administrative and policy- <br /> RESOLUTION - 1 <br />
