<br />Mr. Hamel moved, seconded by Mr. Williams, to adopt the resolution. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mr. Bradley moved, seconded by Mr. Delay, to amend the motion <br />to include a 50 percent split for facilities and 50 percent for <br />tourism, recreational, and cultural services. <br /> <br />Mr. Delay spoke in favor of the amendment to the motion, saying <br />he felt there would be necessary funds for a facilities project <br />in the area and that it recognized that the room tax funds would <br />have to allow for the growth of performing arts and cultural events <br />in the city. He said it would generate more flexibility for the <br />performing arts. <br /> <br />Vote was taken on the amendment to the motion which failed, <br />with Delay, Bradley, and Lieuallen voting aye; Obie, Williams, <br />Hamel, and Smith voting no. <br /> <br />Vote was taken on the main motion which passed, with Obie, <br />Williams, Hamel, and Smith voting aye; Delay, Bradley, and <br />Lieuallen votin~ no. <br /> <br />IIl-^-2 <br /> <br />I. Contract Awards <br />1. West University Community Center (opened March 28, 1977) attached <br />Memo and background information had been distributed to Council <br />along with the bid opening. Manager noted that the bid was <br />for the remodeling of a house at 1458 Ferry Street. He said <br />the property was purchased with monies from the Community De- <br />velopment Block Grant and was to be used as a community center <br />by the West University neighborhood. He said staff recommended <br />the bid be awarded to the low bidder, Morris Kielty, general <br />contractor, for $13,843. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Public hearing was held with no testimony presented. <br /> <br />Mr. Hamel moved, seconded by Mr. Williams, to award the bid <br />to the low bidder, Morris Kielty. Motion carried unanimously, <br />with all Council members present voting aye. <br /> <br />2. Parks and Recreation--Irrigation System Around Amazon Pool <br />(Opened April 20, 1977) Tabulation attached. <br />Manager noted the project was for the installation of an auto- <br />matic irrigation system around the Amazon pool, to replace <br />a deteriorating system, requiring about 20 repairs last summer <br />and would save on both man hours and water consumption. Staff <br />recom mended awardinq bid to low bidder, Fairway Irrigation. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Public hearinq was held with no testimony presented. <br /> <br />Mr. Hamel moved, seconded by Mr. Williams, to award the con- <br />tract to the low bidder, Fairway Irrigation, for $15,352. <br />Motion carried unanimously, with all Council members present <br />voting aye. <br /> <br />4/25/77--19 <br /> <br />33~ <br />
