I
I
VI. CONSIDERATION OF REVENUE STUDY TASK FORCE
(Materials distributed earlier) e
Mr. Obie requested that the item be discussed after the election. Ms.
Smith feels that a task force should be appointed by the Mayor as soon
as possible. Ms. Miller feels that the task force will not solve
long-term problems. Mayor Keller feels that the task force is not
related to the election, that the City needs to be aware of available
alternate revenue resources. He suggested that the committee be
comprised of nine members. With respect to the present election, he
also said that Mary Hudzikiewicz has agreed to head the campaign
committee to work on passage of the budget.
General consensus of Council today is that the task force be appointed,
that the members work closely with Council members, that they review
resource levels, offer alternatives other than those already on the
ballot, that they be involved in a long- and short-range consideration
of the problem, and that they be concerned with community input.
Mayor Keller asked that Council and he return in one week with more
concrete ideas. Mr. Haws suggested staff present ideas to establish a
task force, available resources, and methods of formation, i.e., by
resolution or ordinance. Manager will prepare a presentation for next
week's agenda and the item will be scheduled at the beginning of the
agenda.
Upon motion duly made, seconded, and passed, the meeting was adjourned to June 20, e
1979.
Ch~n~~
(Recorded by Sally Greatwood)
CTH:SG:pm/CM12a20
.
MINUTES--Eugene City Council June 13, 1979 Page 6
337
