REVIEW OF PERFORMING ARTS CENTER GARAGE BIDS (information distributed) e
Manager said that $1.5 million in the bond issue project was approved
for parking. In addition, the Downtown Development District Board
approved the use of $156,000 for footing costs in order to add 2-1/2
stories to the parking structure. In addition, the City has a revenue
bond plan in the amount of $2 million which would generate $1,900,000.
Altogether, this adds up to about $3.5 million. On August 15, 1979,
staff will bring resolutions and ordinances before Council relating to
the sale of several bonds including Airport bonds, $2 million in Bancroft
bonds, and the parking facilities which would be a Bancroft Revenue bond.
It will be supported from all-day and monthly parking charges. The
Finance Director has suggested that as of January 1, 1980, parking for
City employees be increased to $24 a month, and as of July 1, 1980, to
$30 a month, and held there for the duration of the bond. The Downtown
Development District Board has met and recommended that these actions be
taken as well.
Noting materials distributed separately, Manager pointed out the low
bidders to Council: R.A. Chambers (D.A. Harding withdrew), Otis Enk,
and Morris Electric. He said the bids (all but Otis Enk) were lower than
estimated by Todd Construction, allowing them to consider construction
alternatives that could be added at this time.
.
~l5 8/1/79--6
