Mr. Carlson stated that <br />there would be an 80-percent increase in employment, primarily due to more <br />people being in the labor force years rather than youth, and the fact that <br />more women would be working. There will be special strategies and inter- <br />vention available which are defined later in the plan and will not be <br />discussed today; the information he made available is based on current <br />trends with no intervention. The non-manufacturing and service-oriented <br />employment areas will increase while food manufacturing will remain <br />constant and the lumber industry will decrease over time. <br /> <br />Mayor Keller stated that if any of the items in this update are sur- <br />facing for ~hanges, he and/or Gretchen Miller would be bringing this <br />information back for the group.
