to review and recommend and then it will go to the County commissioners
:,e who will place the funding mechanism, a one-percent telephone tax for the
first year, on the ballot to be voted on county-wide. The process, if it
is implemented, will be a simple one of dialing 911 for fire, police, and
emergency services. Although it could take longer to implement in some
areas because they would have to change the phone systems, in most areas it
could be a reality by January 1, 1982. The target date now is for the
February 18 election. The L-COG board will probably act on this issue on
October 23. If recommended, it will be referred to the County Commis-
sioners for action on December 15.
Mr. Delay thanked those persons who came to testify on the city manager
selection process. He noted that he has found it most helpful to hear
different viewpoints and encourages citizens to talk with council members.
The meeting was adjourned. A work session followed in the McNutt Room with
Ralph Andersen regarding the city manager selection process.
Respectfully submitted,
~ /~
Charles T.
