~
.
Mr. Lieuallen asked if there are offices that function at the various City
. shops and if they would be left there. Mr. Smith stated that the City shops'
offices were not included and that 5,000 square feet more would be needed for
them. They have 16,000 square feet leased. Mr. Henry stated that functional
activities such as CETA were not included in the move either.
Ms. Smith asked how he arrived at the 1990 projections. Mr. Smith stated that
they had reviewed each piece of public property and surveyed all employees for
their needs. They looked at storage halls, files, etc., and tried to develop a
standard. These figures were based upon work stations, and they applied that to
the needs now and received projections for anticipated growth in departments
from the department heads. Then, they cut these figures back somewhat. They
took what has occurred in the last ten years and made their projections from
that. Ms. Smith asked if this was conservative rather than a desired outlook.
Mr. Smith r~sponded that it is and they have identified needs for 60,000 to
70,000 square feet.
Mayor Keller asked what growth rate was used in these projections. Mr. Smith
stated that he would bring back a report on this. Mr. Obie stated that he would
like to know the formula used and if these are historic trends or projected
trends.
The meeting was recessed to the Executive Session regarding land acquisition for
office space/park land acquisition.
The meeting was adjourned to December 8, 1980.
e Respectfully submitted,
Mtcheal Gleason
City Manager
(Recorded by Lynda Nelson)
CTH:LN:db/CM23a17
e
MINUTES--Eugene City Council December 3, 1980 Page 8
