..
tit M I NUT E S
Eugene City Council
City Council Chamber
October 14, 1981
11 : 30 a.m.
COUNCILORS PRESENT: Gretchen Miller, Betty Smith, Mark Lindberg, D. W. Hamel,
Eric Haws, Cynthia Wooten, and Emily Schue.
COUNCILOR ABSENT: Br i an Ob i e .
I
Ajourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called
to order by His Honor, Mayor Gus Keller.
1. ITEMS FROM MAYOR & COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS
A. Lincoln School
Ms. Wooten stated that she is disapPointed with School District 4-J1s actions,
which rejected the second good-faith contract over use of Lincoln School. She
e thanked staff for their efforts. If the negotiations are not workable, she
would like the City Manager to investigate having the City retain the park
property adjacent to Lincoln School which was developed with Community Develop-.
ment Block Grant funds. She would like a report back on that and she would like
to see further negotiations. Mike Gleason, City Manager, stated that he would
proceed with both items. Mr. Hamel stated that he would like to see the possi-
bility explored of having Lincoln School taken over by the City, having Jefferson
Pool torn down, and opening a new pool site at Lincoln School. He asked if this
could be explored.
B. Councilors' Absence
Mr. Hamel stated that he would be out October 26; Mr. Haws stated that he would
be out next week; and Ms. Miller stated that she also would be out next week.
C. Weatherization Workshops
Mr. Lindberg stated that he is concerned that since the weatherization ordinance
was passed, there has been no financing made available. There will be, however,
several free workshops sponsored by Oregon State Extension Service, which will
deal with low-cost, immediate weatherization projects.
D. Delay of Appointments
Mr. Lindberg stated that the subcommittee regarding the Emerald Waterway Feasi-
bility Task Force has had difficulty reaching all the applicants. Therefore,
e; they would like to delay making these appointments for one week.
.'
MINUTES--Eugene City Council October 14, 1981 Page 1
