Changing Name of Victoria Street to Chasa Street <br /> Map and report have been distributed to Council. <br /> Mr. Haws moved seconded by Mr. Hamel to set hearing for <br /> January 10. <br /> Mr. Haws questioned the reason for the proposed change. John <br /> Porter, planning director, noted that city policy is not to repeat <br /> a street name within the metropolitan area, explained that the name <br /> Victoria Street_was used in Santa Clara, that using it again had <br /> been an error but to correct the error required an official change. <br /> He explained that no houses had yet been built on Chasa Street so it <br /> was easier to make that change than to change the Santa Clara <br /> use of the name, where the street has been built up. Pedestrian Right-of-Way Vacation--Located south from Bardell <br /> Avenue at Stonegate Street (Lind1ey/SV 76-4) <br />- Map and report have been distributed to Council. Manager noted <br /> that the Planning Commission had recommended against the vacation <br /> but, with or .without an appeal, the City Council is required to act <br /> and hold a hearing on such a request. Mr. Martin explained that the <br /> vacation procedures are set by state law; advice must be requested <br /> from the Planning Commission, but the Council itself must take <br /> actUon on the request. <br /> Comrn <br /> Mr. Haws moved seconded by Mr. Hamel to set hearing for Approve <br /> February 14. Motion carried unanimously. 12/22/76 <br /> VII. Authorization of Resolution for Entering into Agreement with State <br /> Highway Department re Valley River Bikeway Demonstration Project <br /> Agreement and map have been distributed to Council. Mana ger ex- <br /> plained that, in addition to the basic contract for construction of <br /> the Valley River Bikeway Project, the State had forwarded the <br /> contract .with the consul tant to design the bridge. He requested <br /> that Council authorize appropriate resolutions to allow execution of <br /> both contracts.
