Contribution
I will take the time to understand the issues and come
prepared to make considered contributions to a debate. I
will bring my expertise and experience to the discussion
and resolution of issues in an open-minded manner. While
I may bring attention to specific point of views, my role will
be to express my own informed views. I will not take
advantage of the position to argue the case of a specific
group as the goal of the board/commission is to make the
best decision for the community as a whole.
Personal Interest
My interest stems from three experiences. The first was
watching my father volunteer his time as a member on
our local library board of trustees. I was inspired by his
service to the community and learned the value of taking
care of our community resources. The second was
through a course I took as part of my MBA coursework
that focused on the intersection of politics, public policy
and business management. I was fascinated by the idea
of businesses incorporating the perspective of public
service values in decision-making to include fairness and
respect for the individual, accountability and
transparency, efficiency and objectivity, and holding
public trust. The third experience was participating in the
Leadership Eugene-Springfield program where I was able
to broaden my knowledge of current topics important to
the needs and betterment of our community. The passion
exhibited by the presenters inspired me to become
involved in the stewardship of our community.
Interested Applicants
4/2/2018 9:34:12 AM
InterestedApplicants
October 22, 2018, Meeting – Item 4
