2. In what areas does the City Manager's performance exceed your expectations?

As a new employee, my interactiOn with the City Manager has been limited to New Hire
Orientation. However, in the limited time that I met the City Manager during our New
Hire Orientation, I was impressed with the following things:

- Approachability- While I know that the City Manager is an extremely busy
individUal, his interaction with each employee during our New Hire Orientation gave the
distinct impression that he was committed to providing and shaping an organization that
each individual felt welcome and could succeed in. I was glad that he took the time to
stop in and talk with each individual, and I believe that he made an overall positive,
approachable, impression on each new employee.

- Obvious Commitment to Values- In researching the City of Eugene as a
potential employer, and in reading my NeTM Employee Handbook, I was impressed by the
values that drive the City Manager and his office. He articulated them well during the
NHO and appeared to be very committed to those values.

- Commitment to Diversity- I appreciate the City Manager's true commitment to
diversity organization and city wide. He does not merely pay lip service to diversity as a
topic in order to be politically correct. He truly recognizes that a diverse organization
and community is a stronger organization and community.

3. What steps can be taken to improve the City Manager's performance?

I don't have enough information or visibility to this to comment on this point.

Employee 6:

1. In what areas does the City Manager's performance meet your expectations?

Don't know

2. In what areas does the City Manager's performance exceed'your expectations?

Not sure

3. What steps can be taken to improve the City Manager's performance?

I never see the City Manager. I am unaware of what he actually does.

I would hope he could be involved with the improvement of downtown Eugene. It is so
unfortunate to see shops closing and nothing new coming.

City Manager Evaluation 4 July 2005
Employee Comments
