In what areas does the City Manager's performance meet your expectations? <br /> <br />In order for department executive directors to do our work and effectively direct our staff, <br />we must have clear direction. Dennis makes his expectations for performance very clear <br />which allows us to perform our work in a coordinated way across the entire city <br />organization. <br /> <br />2. In what areas does the City Manager's performance exceed your expectations? <br /> <br />Dennis is somehow able to meet almost impossible demands on his time. He very <br />effectively demonstrates the art of balancing many competing priorities. Despite his <br />hectic schedule, he is always available for matters truly requiring his attention. <br /> <br />3. What steps can be taken to improve the City Manager's performance? <br /> <br />Dennis is the right person for such a challenging position. What would be viewed as <br />positive by one person may well be viewed negatively by another. He has already <br />improved the overall strategic thinking of the organization and I am looking forward to <br />continuing progress in this area. <br /> <br /> Executive Manager 2: <br /> <br /> 1. In what areas does the City Manager's performance meet your expectations? <br /> <br /> · in his passion and breadth of knowledge <br /> · in his expectation of excellence in himself and encouragement of excellence in others <br /> · in his grasp of the key issues impacting the City of Eugene <br /> · in his effective management of the political environment <br /> · in his visibility in the work place and in the community <br /> · in the periodic All-staff meetings to familiarize City personnel with all aspects of city <br /> government <br /> <br /> NOTE: Because Dennis is such a highly effective city manager, my expectations <br /> increase the more I work with him and observe his leadership skills. He sets an excellent <br /> example for others who aspire to be leaders. <br /> <br /> 2. In what areas does the City Manager's performance exceed your expectations? <br /> <br /> · in his strong commitment to staff development.
