Goals, Objectives and General Comments

· What are the Manager's most important strengths in performing his job?

The City Manager brings a strong set of skills to his job and is noted by managers
and mayors across the country for his professional integrity. He works well with
the Mayor and Council to identify goals and to work with staff and community to
achieve those goals. The City Manager is willing to work to "yes". He is well
respected and liked in the community. He believes in this community and its
human and natural resources.

· In what areas do you believe the Manager shoUld improve his performance or skills?

Strengthen his position by strengthening his Councils' leadership and advisory
capacity.

Get out in front of controversies

Manage public relations

· Are there any specific goals and objectives you would like to set for the Manager for the
coming year?

Continue .to protect managerial role and staff while opening up opportunities for
staff and Council to work together effectively.

Continue to work effectively with metro partners while acknowledging
differences.

Form a stronger PR arm for City with uniform messaging.

Do you have any additional comments about the Manager's performance over the past
year or expectations for the coming year?

I have enjoyed working with the City Manager and appreciate the quality of his
work, his ethic, his respect for others, his care for Eugene and its assets.

10
