The manager seems to make very few changes especially substantial ones.
3. Dennis's vision or leadership direction is indistinguishable from previous administrations.
4. I have often said at council meetings that the organization insists on making new policy and
plans by studying what is in the rear view mirror. Organizational self-preservation seems to be
the prevailing approach to programs and plans, There is a distinct lack of interest, let alone
enthusiasm, for innovating successes enjoyed in other communities. I see no change with
Dennis's leadership.
5 Since personnel issues are off-limits to councilors it is not clear to me the role of the manager
in addressing recent criticism by our departing Diversity Coordinator. Did he contribute to the
alleged problems; try to solve them; what is his approach? This was one of the reasons I
requested an additional Manager Evaluation session with Dennis, so that we could ask these
kinds of questions as a council which is the only time we are permitted to discuss personnel
issues.
