They also questioned whether imposing limitations on uses and development along <br />Highway99 North would advance the goals of nodal development, particularly if these goals were otherwise <br />served by providing for "Main Street" development along Fairfield with adequate transit service and <br />pedestrian and bicycle connections to the future transit corridor along Highway 99. Ultimately, the <br />Planning Commission recommended that the City Council not apply the/ND Overlay zone to the Gilbert <br />area, citing a number of concerns with the overlay zone and the need for site specific planning in the <br />Gilbert area, with participation of property owners and residents and consideration of market forces. The <br />Council agreed with the Planning Commission recommendation and postponed action on the Gilbert node <br />pending resolution of identified problems with the/ND Nodal Development overlay zone provisions. <br /> <br /> 26 <br /> <br /> <br />
