" lllaldTOn & (om~

SECTION VII

We believe that there are a few challenges that we may face when recruiting for this position -
none that are detrimental, but challenges nonetheless.

1. This is a very unique position and there are a finite number of people who actually hold
the title "Police Auditor". We will need to be more creative in our targeting and
recruitment strategies because of the limited recruitment options for a Police Auditor. We
want to ensure that the City Council is open to many different recruitment possibilities.

2. In researching the City of Eugene's Police Auditor position we understand that there are
current conflicts and issues that may make recruiting for this position a challenge. It will
be very important for us to develop compelling m~rketing/communication strategies to
attract the right person who will be excited about taking on these challenges as well as a
person who fits with the cultural nuances of the City.

3. Usually this type of position is filled by someone vvithin the community 'Arho understands
the issues and personalities of the issues and who has experience serving on a citizen
oversight committee or review board. Since the City of Eugene may be seeking candidates
from outside of the area, it may raise red flags to a potential candidate. Again, our ability
to develop a strong communication/recruitment campaign will be essential to attracting the
right -fit.

"

13
