Councilor Solomon, seconded by Councilor Ortiz, moved to reappoint John Ahlen to Posi-
tion 4 on the Police Commission for a four-year term beginning November 1, 2006, and
ending on October 31, 2010.

Councilor Ortiz wanted to underscore how well-qualified all of the applicants were. She urged people to
reapply and to volunteer for the City.

Roll call vote; the motion passed unanimously, 8:0.

Councilor Solomon, seconded by Councilor Ortiz, moved to appoint Joseph Alsup to Posi-
tion 5 on the Police Commission for a four-year term beginning November 1, 2006, and
expiring on October 31, 2010. Roll call vote; the motion passed unanimously, 8:0.

Councilor Solomon, seconded by Councilor Ortiz, moved to appoint Charles Zennache to
Position 7 on the Police Commission for a four-year term beginning November 1, 2006,
and expiring October 31, 2010. Roll call vote; the motion passed unanimously, 8:0.

Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission

Councilor Solomon, seconded by Councilor Ortiz, moved to appoint Terry Gould to Posi-
tion 2 on the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission to complete the unex-
pired term of Walt Meyer, and to serve a three-year term beginning on February 1, 2007,
and ending on January 31, 2010.

Councilor Poling stated that both candidates had been well-qualified. He noted that he had taken former
councilor Gary Rayor’s place on the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC) when
he was seated on the council. He said he did not know Mr. Gould well, but in discussing his background
with MWMC commissioners, he learned that Mr. Gould had a similar background to Walt Meyer, a man
who had served the MWMC well. He was confident that Mr. Gould’s background as an environmental
engineer would be an asset to the commission. He was only sorry that there were not two positions open so
that Mr. Rayor could also be appointed. Mayor Piercy concurred.

Roll call vote; the motion passed unanimously, 8:0.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Dennis M.
