Councilor Solomon, seconded by Councilor Ortiz, moved to reappoint John Ahlen to Posi- <br />tion 4 on the Police Commission for a four-year term beginning November 1, 2006, and <br />ending on October 31, 2010. <br /> <br />Councilor Ortiz wanted to underscore how well-qualified all of the applicants were. She urged people to <br />reapply and to volunteer for the City. <br /> <br />Roll call vote; the motion passed unanimously, 8:0. <br /> <br />Councilor Solomon, seconded by Councilor Ortiz, moved to appoint Joseph Alsup to Posi- <br />tion 5 on the Police Commission for a four-year term beginning November 1, 2006, and <br />expiring on October 31, 2010. Roll call vote; the motion passed unanimously, 8:0. <br /> <br />Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission <br /> <br />Councilor Solomon, seconded by Councilor Ortiz, moved to appoint Terry Gould to Posi- <br />tion 2 on the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission to complete the unex- <br />pired term of Walt Meyer, and to serve a three-year term beginning on February 1, 2007, <br />and ending on January 31, 2010. <br /> <br />Councilor Poling stated that both candidates had been well-qualified. He noted that he had taken former <br />councilor Gary Rayor’s place on the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC) when <br />he was seated on the council. He said he did not know Mr. Gould well, but in discussing his background <br />with MWMC commissioners, he learned that Mr. Gould had a similar background to Walt Meyer, a man <br />who had served the MWMC well. He was confident that Mr. Gould’s background as an environmental <br />engineer would be an asset to the commission. He was only sorry that there were not two positions open so <br />that Mr. Rayor could also be appointed.
