Commission
,C/o T em Harding
I Eugene Planning Division
99 W. lOth Ave.
,'Eugellc, OR 97401

Dear Commission members,

Think about where you live. Perhaps you have a pool or hot tub in your backyard, or perhaps you and your partner
enjoy having a private dinner for 2 on warm summer evenings on you back porch. Now think about how you'd feel if
your neighbors kids were st.aring out their \vindow at you - or worse that the view~ off th.e back porch you spent all
summer building was of a nearly? 4O'high. wall. Concerns over infB1 are about more than just propert.y values - they
are often about quality of life values.

I realize that as Eugene grows we must increase population densities in order to save \vetlands and curtail sprawl, but
this grovvth should be planned and done in a manner that is agreeable to both the city of Eugene and to the
neighborhoods and. residents that "viII be directly affected by th.e changes.

'So, as a ,1ear resident of the Jefferson Westside neighborhood I was upset to hear that, in direct conllict with the
July 24 City Council mandate to ,\\rork with Jefferson WestsideN'eighbors (JWN), you failed to do so and in fact
worked against their efforts for a mutually agreeable solution~ I am therefore taking this time to encourage you to
: support a moratorium. on'rezoning and to reopen the channels of communication with the JWN board members in
order to work together to find a solution to the concerns w'e all share over infill.

I wi.sh you and your family a safe and happy holiday season..

111--43
