For Ward 4, Councilor Kelly introduced and thanked Jim Holmes, John Lindamood, and Scott <br />Skelton. He said that these volunteers had planted 53 trees in Ward 4. <br /> <br />For Ward 5, Councilor Pap~ expressed his pleasure that the City had been recognized as a good <br />place to plant trees. He introduced Lori Choat, Shawnee Hitchcock, Charles Biggs, and David <br />Hopkins. He said that these volunteers had helped to plant 46 trees in his ward. <br /> <br />For Ward 6, Councilor Fart introduced and complimented Suzanne Keeting, Edward Fishier, and <br />Dan Bud. He noted that these volunteers had helped plant 54 trees in his ward. <br /> <br />For Ward 7, Councilor Meisner introduced Jim Bloomer, who accepted for ©'Hara School, Kelly <br />Townsend, and Mary Benson. He thanked these volunteers for planting 50 trees in his ward. <br /> <br />For Ward 8, Councilor Nathanson introduced John Brown, for South Town Rotary, Greg Harper, for <br />Boy Scout Troop 22, Bethany Meeker, Collin Gray, accepting for Rachael Carson, Megan Burry, <br />for Girl Scout Troop 390, and Megan Anderson for Girl Scout Troop 432. She said that these <br />volunteers had helped to plant 115 trees. <br /> <br />Mayor Torrey stressed his appreciation for City staff efforts put forward on the project's behalf. He <br />called for everyone involved with the NeighborWoods project to stand up and receive an ovation <br />from the audience. <br /> <br />Mr. Snyder stressed his pleasure at recognizing the Hendricks Park Department Advisory <br />Committee for their efforts, over the past two years, in the development of a forest management <br />plan for Eugene's oldest park. He noted that it was the first ecosystem-based management plan <br />for a park in the City of Eugene. He said that the plan had been formally adopted by <br />administrative rule on May 2, 2000. <br /> <br />Mayor Torrey read the names of the committee members: Kat Beal, John Moriarty, Stanton Cook, <br />Jim Gent, Robert Fraser, Rich Aaring, Sandy Tepfer, Richard Cundiff, Diana Bus, and Ron <br />Friedland. He called on Mr. Cook, as honorary chair, to receive a recognition award. <br /> <br />Mr. Cook complimented Public Works staff and "David Reed and Associates" for their work on the <br />plan. He also complimented the City Council for the decision to call for the management plan. He <br />stressed that the plan could be a model for the management of other parks. <br /> <br />Mayor Torrey offered his thanks to the young people in the volunteer programs for showing how <br />important they were to the community. <br /> <br /> ii. PUBLIC FORUM <br /> <br />Jan Spencer, 1266 West 5th Avenue, urged council consideration of a World Trade Organization <br />(WT©) resolution.
