MINUTES <br /> <br /> Eugene City Council <br /> Interviews for Planning Commission and Budget Committee <br /> McNutt Room--City Hall <br /> <br /> April 27, 1999 <br /> 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Scott Meisner, Betty Taylor, Gary Rayor, David Kelly, Gary Pap8 <br /> (after 7:30 p.m.). <br /> <br />COUNCILORS ABSENT: Pat Farr, Bobby Lee, Nancy Nathanson. <br /> <br />City Council President Scott Meisner called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.. <br /> <br />The following applicants were invited to interview for appointment to the Planning Commission: <br />1) Robed Duncan; 2) Shawn Winkler-Rios; 3) Eric Hall; 4) Jon Belcher; 5) Lance Lindahl; and 6) <br />Al Burns. <br /> <br />Mr. Meisner welcomed each Planning Commission applicant to their scheduled 15-minute <br />interview, and councilors issued the following questions to each applicant: <br /> <br /> 1) The Metropolitan Plan, adopted City plans and policies, and the City Council Goals <br /> provide guidance on a number of key issues for the City's elected officials and its <br /> boards and commission. <br /> <br />A. In your opinion, which issues should be given highest priority by the Planning Commission over the <br /> next four years? <br /> <br />B. In your opinion, which issues should be given highest priority by the Planning Commission over the <br /> next four years? <br /> <br /> 2) The Planning Commission must often balance competing interests when it develops planning <br /> documents and makes land use decisions. In your opinion, what are the most important factors for <br /> the Planning Commission to consider in its decision-making? <br /> <br />3) In light of the council-adopted Growth Management policies, how can the commission ensure that the <br /> concept of compact urban growth is clearly articulated and implemented through City plans and <br /> land use regulations?
