Councilor Farr called for more people to come to council meetings and speak in support of the <br />Eugene Police. He thanked Nancy for speaking at the meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Torrey read the Eugene Code section pertaining to parades and processions. He called for <br />greater vigilance when issuing permits for public gatherings. He linked police reluctance to use <br />force to the negative public reaction to the June 1, 1997, incident. He commented that "second- <br />guessing" the police did not help any situation. <br /> <br /> ,. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br /> A.. ApprovalofCityCotmcilMinutes: May 12, 1999, Work Session; May 19, 1999, Work <br /> Session <br /> <br /> Councilor Meisner, seconded by Councilor Nathanson, moved to approve the <br /> items on the City Council Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />Councilor Meisner noted that the date of the May 19, 1999, minutes needed to be changed. <br /> <br /> Roll call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 7:0. <br /> <br /> II1. PUBLIC HEARING AND ACTION: AN ORDINANCE VACATING A PORTION OF THE <br /> STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY LOCATED NEAR THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OAKMONT <br /> WAY AND SORREL WAY (SV 98-06) <br /> <br />Mayor Torrey opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />Ugo DiLullo, 10450 Southwest Nimbus Avenue, Portland, spoke representing Albertson's <br />Supermarkets. He spoke in support of the proposal. <br /> <br />Mayor Torrey closed the public hearing. <br /> <br /> iv. ACTION: A RESOLUTION NUMBER 4597 APPROVING A LOW-INCOME RENTAL <br /> HOUSING PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1665 <br /> OAKPATCH ROAD, EUGENE, OREGON (OAKWOOD MANOR LIMITED <br /> PARTNERSHIP/ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY OF LANE COUNTY, INC.) <br /> <br />Richie Weinman, Housing and Neighborhood Development Manager, provided information on the <br />Oakwood Manor tax exemption and spoke in support of the proposal. <br /> <br /> Councilor Meisner, seconded by Councilor Nathanson, moved to adopt <br /> Resolution Number 4597 to approve a Iow-income rental housing property tax <br /> exemption for property located at 1665 Oakpatch Road, Eugene, Oregon. <br /> (Oakwood Manor Limited Partnership/St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane <br /> County, Inc.)
