Parks and Recreation- Pages 71 through 7S of the whiteaker Plan <br />The Parks and Recreation Element contains policies to enhance park land and recreation services <br />for community members. <br />Findings: <br />9. whiteaker Plan policies to improve recreation services and to enhance park uses, <br />operations, and expansionslchanges are consistent with the following Metro Plan <br />objective and policy: <br />"Develop park sites and recreation facilities in the manner best suited to serve the <br />diverse interests of local residents and in areas of greatest need." ~Dbj. 3, page <br />III-H-4} <br />"Develop mechanisms and processes by which residents of an area to be served by <br />a neighborhood park, neighborhood center, or play lot can participate in the <br />design, development, and maintenance of the facility." (Policy 5, page III-H-S} <br />Social Services and Education- Pages 79 through 84 of the whiteaker Plan <br />The policies in the Social Services and Educatian element address key issues surrounding the <br />provision of social services and the Whiteaker Community School. <br />Findings: <br />10. Whiteaker Plan policies addressing social services and the whiteaker Community School <br />are consistent with the following Metro Plan policies: <br />"Support financial and other efforts to provide elementary and community schools <br />in central city areas in order to maintain and increase the attractiveness and <br />stability of those areas for residential purposes." Policy 10, page III-G-G} <br />"Special agencies and districts operating in the metropolitan area, Eugene, <br />Springfield, and Lane County shall provide one another the opportunity to review <br />and comment on proposed public facilities, plans, programs, and public <br />improvement projects or changes thereto that may affect one another's area of <br />responsibility." Policy 14, page III-G-~} <br />In conclusion, the whiteaker Plan is consistent with the Metro Plan. The whiteaker Plan <br />provides detailed policy direction concerning key issues affecting the Whiteaker Neighborhood. <br />The policies are consistent with the fundamental principles in the Metro Plan and applicable <br />policies, including the Land Use Diagram.
