NOTICE 4F CITY ELECTION <br />CITY OF EUGENE <br />NOTICE is hereby given that a City election will be held in the City of Eugene, <br />Qregon, on Tuesday, the 12th day of March, 199, to be conducted by the Lane County <br />Election Department in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 254 of aregon Revised <br />Statutes. This election is called for the purpose of voting on the following Measure of the <br />City of Eugene: <br />Measure 'TITLE: "CITY AFFORDABLE-HOUSING <br />UTILITY CONSUMPTION TAB" <br />uestion: Shall City Council impose 1% utility <br />consumption tax far ten years to fund <br />affordable-housing and energy assistance? <br />Ex lanation: Amends Eugene 'Charter. Requires City <br />Council to impose a utility consumption <br />tax on consumers of electricity, natural <br />gas, water, cable TV, and sewer services <br />within the City, except where exempted by <br />Council ordinance. The tax is limited to <br />1% of the utility charges. The tax <br />r <br />proceeds will be used to fund affordable <br />low-income) housing projects ~90% of the <br />taxes} and energy assistance to low income <br />persons ~ 10% of the taxes.
