-----Original Message-m-
From: Julie van Amerongen [mailto:Julie@creationnation.net]
Sent: Thursday, September 29, 2005 1:24 PM
To: BJORKLUND Neil H
Cc: matt@creationnation.net
Subject: Goal 5 Natural Resources Study

Please accept this as public testimony for the Goal 5 Natural Resources study

We strongly encourage you to modify the current recommendations for the Goal 5
Inventory process to include upland wildlife habitat for the following reasons:
· We must preserve the full opportunity needed to conduct a proper inventory.
· An inventory is required due to the presence of rare and sensitive species.
· A red-legged frog has recently been discovered in the East Fork Amazon
Headwaters Forest which indicates this is an area of high quality riparian and
interconnected upland habitat. New discoveries like this reaffirm the need for a
cautious approach.

Our family, and many others like us, have been enjoying the beauty and spaciousness of
this East Fork Amazon Headwaters Forest for years. Indeed, it's one of the things that
attracted us to Eugene in the first place. That Eugene, like so many cities across the
nation, might make the irrevocable choice to develop a pristine piece of land is a short-
sighted move with long term negative impacts.

Thanking you in advance for your consideration.

Julie van Amerongen and Matt Butler
5045 Nectar Way, Eugene
541.683.8484
