<br />Results: Increase the ability to provide community policing in outlying unincorporated <br />communities, provide some response to calls for service, and decrease response time. Part of a <br />balanced public safety system. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Detectives for Prooertv and Violent Crimes. Add two detectives in the criminal investigation <br />section of the Sheriff's Office; one to focus on property crime and one on violent crimes, <br />supervised by a sergeant. <br />Cost: $540,000 <br />Results: Increase arrest, prosecution, and incarceration of property criminals and drug cases, <br />return stolen property to victims, and increase the arrest, prosecution, and incarceration of violent <br />criminals" Part of a balanced public safety system. <br /> <br />Prosecute Drue: Producers. Dealers. Users. and Prooerty Criminals. Additional assistant <br />district attorneys with support staffwill prosecute approximately 900 to 1,200 drug and property <br />crimes, with special emphasis on those persons involved in the methamphetamine trade. <br />Cost: $1,100,000 <br />Results: At least 90 percent of criminals will be convicted and sentenced traditionally or <br />offered alternative programs such as Drug Court. Part of a balanced public safety system. <br /> <br />Existin2 Juvenile Detention Cao8citv. Open 32 bed detention pod with central control <br />operation. Provide appropriate treatment for youth offenders while in detention" <br />Cost: $3,600,000 <br />Results: Provide for about 700 admissions yearly and achieve a 65 percent reduction in re- <br />offenses for those using detention. Contributes to an overall reduction in the re-offending rate. <br /> <br />Existine: Jail CaD8citv. Restore 96 bed third-floor housing unit; restore the Special <br />Management Unit; add 79 beds through double bunking. <br />Cost: $4,500,000 <br />Results: Increase ability to hold offenders longer; decrease offender's ability to re-offend; hold <br />more sentenced offenders accountable; reduce failures to appear; get people into treatment <br />programs; undertake skill-building. Contributes to an overall reduction in the re-offending rate. <br /> <br />Intensive Juvenile Offender SUDervision. Fund seven additional probation/supervision staff to <br />supervise youth who will receive intensive supervision services including electronic monitoring, <br />urinalysis, and case management" <br />Cost: $600,000 <br />Results: The number of youth receiving intensive supervision services will be approximately <br />285 and 70 percent will be diverted from chronic delinquency" Contributes to an overall <br />reduction in the re-offending rate" <br /> <br />Adult Dru2 Offender SuoervisioD.
