<br />Results: Improves supervision of addicts and dealers; increase rate of treatment participation by <br />high and medium risk offenders to 30 percent. Contributes to an overall reduction in the re- <br />offending rate. <br /> <br />Sherman CenterlDOMC Staff Enhancement. Fund three additional Release Assistance <br />Officers who will apply a regularly validated uniform risk assessment tool permitting objective <br />individual release and hold decisions for pretrial inmates based on their risk. <br />Cost: $270,000 <br />Results: Creates a 24/7 operation in which each of the 14,000 plus people booked in to the jail <br />every year is interviewed and assessed, within four hours of being booked, for risk of failure to <br />appear in court, dangerousness, and the likelihood of committing new crimes. The failure to <br />appear rate will be reduced. Contributes to an overall reduction in the re-offending rate" <br /> <br />~ Goal-Reduce Family Violence. The majority of domestic abuse, child abuse and <br />neglect, and elder abuse are committed by people under the influence of drugs and alcohol" <br />Family violence in Lane County should not be tolerated and must be significantly reduced. <br /> <br />Familv Violence Dete~tives. Three detectives will be added to the investigative unit to focus on <br />family violence; one civil service deputy will enhance the delivery of protective orders such as <br />retraining and stalking orders, and subpoenas. <br />Cost: $650,000 <br />Results: Increase prosecution success of family abuses. Part of a balanced public safety system. <br /> <br />Domestic Violence Prosecution Team. Create a new, coordinated Domestic Violence Team to <br />handle up to 1,000 family violence cases per year. Recruit approximately 20 volunteers to act as <br />24-hour responders. <br />Cost: $890,000 <br />Results: Defendants that beat up intimate partners and children will be aggressively prosecuted <br />and held accountable, with conviction rates exceeding 80 percent. Part of a balanced public <br />safety system. <br /> <br />Home-based Behavioral Systems Familv Therapv for Juveniles. Provide funding for two <br />additional probation and supervision staff. <br />Cost: $170,000 . <br />Results: Approximately 85 youth will receive intensive supervision services and 70 percent will <br />be diverted from chronic delinquency. Contributes to an overall reduction in the re-offending <br />rate" <br /> <br />Suoenrise Domestic Violence Offenders and Sex .Offenders.. Provide improved staffing in <br />P&P to intensively supervise adult domestic violence offenders and sex offenders, many of <br />whom are misdemeanants. <br />Cost: $540,000 <br />Results: Reduce caseload sizes from approximately 110 offenders per officer (domestic <br />violence) to 55 and from 75-80 offenders per officer (sex offenders) to 55.
