At. our. September 2nd meeting the Santa Oara Community Organization
reviewed your proposal for a federally funded project that would ~tend the bike
path along the river under the Belt line bridge to better connect Santa Oara to the
. bike path system. Our discussion focussed on the dangers of using the bike lane on
River Road to try to get to the bike path. River Road has become one of the busiest
thoroughfares in the City and the proposition of trying to negotiate the River Road
and Belt Line intersection has become more than frightening. The result is that
only the most daring in Santa Oara will use bicycles to try to get to points south.
The Santa Clara Community Organization supports your efforts to connect
the riverbank bicycle trail to Beaver Street and Hunsaker in Santa Oara by
construction of a Division/River Avenue Bikeway and believe it to be a necessary
addition to alleviate the overworked transportation corridors to Santa Oara.

Sincerel y,

~~

Lee Hunsaker
president, Santa Clara
Community Organization

Letter of support for the
WEST BANK TRAIL EXTENSION,
formerly called Division/River
Avenue Bikeway.

a local boiuin

gobernme.nt
