NOTICE OF CITY ELECTION <br />CITY OF EUGENE <br />NOTICE is hereby given that a City election will be held in the City of Eugene, Oregon on <br />Tuesday, November 3,1998, to be conducted by the Lane County Election Department in accordance <br />with the provisions of Chapter 254 of aregan Revised Statutes. This election is called for the <br />purpose of voting on the following Measure of the City of Eugene; <br />Measure (~~ : .TITLE: "AMERICAN FLAG UN SKINNER'S BUTTE." <br />~uestzon: Shall City erect 9o foot aluminum flagpole on crest of <br />Skinner's Butte to fly American flag? <br />Summa Approval of this ordinance would dedicate Skinner's Butte <br />park as a memorial to the veterans of all wars in which the <br />United States has participated. The ordinance also would <br />require the city to construct and maintain an aluminum <br />flagpole with anabove-ground height of 90 feet or more. The <br />ordinance would require the flagpole to be located on the <br />southeast edge of Skinner's Butte. The City must <br />continuously fly an American flag of not less than 10 by 19 <br />feet, except that a larger flag of appropriate dimensions must <br />be flown on special holidays and occasions. The flag must be <br />flown day and night, and must be illuminated during all <br />periods of darkness. It can be lowered only on occasions of <br />high winds or other extreme weather conditions. <br />The voting places and Clerks of the election will be those fixed by Lane County. <br />WARREN G.
