Promote higher residential density inside the urban growth bound that <br />.. ~' <br />ut~l~zes existing infrastructure, improves the eff c~ency of public services and <br />facilities, and conserves rural resource lands outside the urban growth <br />boundary. <br />This policy provides direction to capitalize on existing public facilities and services alread in <br />. y <br />place by plan~ung for higher density ~n these areas. This will reduce the need or colon the <br />. ... p g <br />t~m~ng of need to extend fac~lit~es and service to areas currently not serviced. <br />Policy 34. coordinate local residential land use and housing planning with other <br />elements of this plan, including public facilities and services, and other local <br />plans, to ensure consistency among policies. <br />These policies require the coordination of the residential land and housing olicies with other <br />. p <br />applicable sections of the Metro Plan including provision of facilities and services. Another <br />work task of Periodic Review currently underway is the update of the Metro Public Facilities <br />Plan. The policy requires coordination of the policy direction in these pro osed Metro Plan <br />P <br />amendments with that study. <br />The proposed policies listed above address the provisions of public facilities and services to <br />residential land. Therefore, the amendments comply with Goal 11. <br />Goal 12 - Transportation: To provide and encourage a safe, convenient and economic <br />transportation system. <br />The, type, density and location of housing can have an effect on the transportations stem both <br />Y <br />locally and regionally. The proposed Metro Plan amendments include the followin olicies that <br />gP <br />support Goal 12: <br />Policy 10. Generally locate higher density residential development near emplo mentor <br />Y <br />commercial services, in relationship to major transportation systems or within <br />transportation-efficient nodes, <br />Policy 12, Increase overall residential density in the metropolitan area by creating more <br />opportunities for effectively designed in-fill, redevelopment, and mixed use <br />while considering impacts of increased residential density on existing and <br />historic neighborhoods. <br />1 S - Findings in Support of Metro Plan Amendments <br />
