Agenda Review/Approval

Mr. Hoobyar determined the agenda to be approved and reviewed the meeting agreements. He reminded
the group of their decision that public participation would be fulfilled by staff taking the report and
decisions made by this group out to community organizations for input.

Mr. Hoobyar pointed out that draft minutes from the meeting held on August 24 had been distributed to
group members and asked members to review the draft for approval at the meeting scheduled for October
5. He noted that the minutes from the present meeting would also be completed and made available for
review prior to the October meeting.

Mr. Hoobyar noted that October 24 was the correct date of the City Council work session at which the
results of the stakeholders' group process would be presented contingent on being able to wrap up the
process on October 5.

Mr. Hoobyar stated that two copies of the stakeholders' notebooks were available, one each at the Public
Works offices on Pearl Street and Broadway Street. He added that it was also posted on the City's Web
site. In response to requests, copies were also being provided to the Santa Clara Community Organization
(SCCO) and to the River Road Community Organization (RRCO).

Mr. Howard wondered if the council work session could be rescheduled for after October 31. Ms. Cahill
agreed to look into this.

Ms. Rojas recalled that crash statistics were largely from the intersection of River Avenue with River
Road. She wondered if it would be possible to bring the intersection into the project. She thought the
answer to this was likely negative and asked why this was so. Ms. Cahill replied that the intersection had
already been modernized. She related that public comments regarding the intersection had been
forwarded to the Traffic Division of the Public Works Department (PWD). She averred that some of the
planned improvements to River Avenue would have a positive impact on the intersection.

MINUTES-River Avenue Stakeholder Group -
Public Works Department

August 30, 2005

Page 1
