LOWE Allen 0

From: Seiferling, Erika [ESeiferling@levLcomJ
Sent: Tuesday, November 08,200512:03 PM
To: *Eugene Mayor and City Council
Cc: LOWE Allen D
Subject: Chambers Special Zone - Please Approve!

November 8, 2005

Dear Mayor and Councilors,

This letter requests your support for the Chambers Special Zone as recommended by the
Planning Department Staff and Planning Commission. It presents a revised, fair and balanced
bridge to the Metro Growth Goals that effectively span into the future serving the growth of
Eugene according to plan.

Ten years ago, I bought my 1st house in the Chambers area to facilitate my daughter and son-in-
law raising a family while I continued working in Miami. Soon I was looking for a potential place
to retire and the Chambers neighborhood trumped all other options nationwide: it met my
criteria for future real estate value and long-term healthy living, factoring stability, independence,
access to public mobility, safety, proximity to services and quality of life issues.

So, in this same Chambers area, I bought my 2nd dwelling: a cottage with a gardened yard twice
the living space, diagonally across from where my grandchildren live; I am in walking distance to
major grocery stores; 1 have convenient bus connections to schools, and I can walk downtown.
This mature neighborhood also fostered highly civic minded neighbors who are m)' first eyes of
defense when it comes to person and property protection.

Guiding growth compatible with this established neighborhood character will make my
experiences become a trend for the community of the future.

Please vote in favor of the Chambers Special Zone.

Thank you for caring about my opinion.

Erika Seiferling
1480 W. 10th Ave.
Eugene, OR 97402
484-2599

11/8/2005
