ORDINANCE NO. 18342 <br />AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING SEWER USER CHARGES; AND AMENDING <br />SECTIONS 7.01x, 7.020, 7.023, 7.025, 1,030, 7.035, 1.040, <br />AND 7.045 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLD~S: <br />Section 1. Section 7.010 of the Eugene Code, 1971 is amended to read <br />and provide: <br />7,x10 Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, the following words <br />and phrases shall have the meanings ascribed to them by this sec- <br />ti on <br />B.O.D. Biochemical oxy en demand. Quantity of oxygen <br />uti 1 i zed i n the bi ochem~i ca~~l~ oxi dati~on of organic matter under <br />standard laboratory procedure in five days at 20 degrees Centigrade <br />expressed in parts per million weight. <br />Building drain. That part of the lowest horizontal piping of <br />a drainage system which receives the discharge from soil waste, <br />and other drainage pipes inside the walls of the building and con- <br />veys i t to the bui 1 di ng sewer, beginning five f=eet outside the <br />interface of the building wall . <br />Buildin sewer, The extension from the building drain to the <br />public sewer or other places of disposal. <br />Combined sewer. A sewer receiving bath surface run-off and <br />sewage. <br />Domestic sewa e. Sanitary sewage derived principally from <br />dwellings, business buildings and institutions. <br />Duplex. A building designed and used exclusively for occu- <br />pancy by two families living independently of each other. <br />Dwellin unit. As defined in section 9.015 of this code. <br />Garba e. Solid wastes from the preparation, cooking and <br />dispensing of food, and from the handling, storage and sale of <br />produce. <br />General customer. ~ For regional portion of rani tar~r sewer <br />user cnargej: <br />~a} Low stren th. Users with combined BOD and SS load- <br />ings equal to or less than 400 milligrams per liter ~mgll~. <br />These low strength loadings are typical of domestic sanitary <br />waste loadings. <br />~b~ Medium stren th. Users with combined BOD and SS <br />strengths greater than 400 mg/1 but not greater than 800 mg/1. <br />These medium strength loadings are typical af: grocery <br />stares, hotels and motels, commercial laundries and theaters. <br />~c~ Hi h stren th. Users with a combined BDD and SS <br />wastewater strength of greater than 800 mg/1. These high <br />strength loadings are typical af: restaurants, bakeries and <br />' food processors dairies, bottlers, etch. <br />Ordinance - 1 <br />
