"The i9th and Agate Special Area Study Task Force discussed the value <br />of the existing play area and open space, and developed some very sche- <br />matic designs of what the area on the southern end of Condon School <br />could look like, developed either with or without a parking lot on the <br />site. The schematic designs incorporated a variety of features and may <br />or may not be implemented as shown. improvements of the Condon School <br />site will depend on several factors such as University needs and finan- <br />cial resources. Financial resources for playground/open space enhance- <br />ments, for example, need to be explored with strong community involve- <br />ment." <br />13.1 ~Recognize~ Recognizing the asset that the existing play- <br />ground and apes space represent in their location at the southern <br />end of the Condon Schoa] building consider developing ~devel- <br />op~ a design of the area has fol iaws~ which incorporates the <br />following factors: <br />a. ~Create~ A quiet buffered area ~immediately~ south of the <br />Condon School Building that offers an attractivey passive <br />setting for users of-the building. <br />b. ~Cesign~ A small pocket park to create pleasant outdoor open <br />space at the south end of the site and to provide seating area <br />far customers, employees, and community members. Provide <br />with visible, direct access for bicyclists and pedes- <br />tri ans from Agate Street. <br />c. ~Imprave/replace exi sti ng~ Improved/replaced playground <br />equipment as needed to provide an active play area for chil- <br />dren in a variety of age groups. <br />d. An active recreational area for adults. may be incorporated <br />if compatible with items a., b., and c.~above.~ ~A schematic <br />design of a proposal far the area is attached. <br />4.~ Page 2d-- Add to Finding 21 information that some University lots are <br />not fully utilized. Add the following; <br />"While there is a parking shortage on campus, some Lots, such as the <br />one north of Condon School and at filth and Moss, are not fully utilized <br />based on observations taken in Spring, 1988." <br />5, Page Z1-- Add a new Finding 30 describing the development of the Condon <br />School playground and its current use. New Finding 30 to read: <br />"The playground at the Condon School site was designed and built with <br />private funds and volunteer Labor in ~9?l. The site is now used by the <br />University of Oregon Child Care Program and community members, especialw <br />ly from the East Campus Housing Area." <br />Revisions and Errata, June 2l, 1988 Page Z <br />
