A storage plan shall be provided for all <br />storage facil~ties~~ The plan shall indicate the intended storage <br />arrangement, including the location and dimensions of aisles. <br />~1} 5 ill Control, Draina e, and Containment. <br />1, Unless exempted or otherwise provided for in Section <br />80.302 through 80.315, rooms, buildings or areas used far the <br />storage,of solid and liquid hazardaus materials shall be pro- <br />v~ded with a means to control spillage and to contain or drain <br />off spillage and fire protection water discharged in the stor- <br />age area. <br />2. Spill Control. Floors shall be recessed a minimum <br />of four inches or shall be provided with a liquid-tight raised <br />sill to a minimum height of four inches so as to prevent the <br />flow of liquids to adjoining areas. When liquid-tight sills <br />are provided, they may be omitted at door openings with the <br />installation of an open grate trench which connects to the <br />room drainage system. <br />3. Draina e. <br />A. The room, building or area shall be provided with <br />a drainage system to direct the flow of liquids to an <br />approved location or, when required in Sections 80.302 <br />through 80.315, the room, building or area shall be de- <br />signed to provide secondary containment for the hazardous <br />materials and fire protection water. <br />B. A slope to drain not less than 1/ shall be pro- <br />vided. <br />C. Drains from the area shall be sized to carry the <br />automatic fire extinguishing system design flaw rate <br />over the system design area. <br />D. Materials of construction for the drainage system <br />shad 1 be compatible with the stored materials. <br />E. Incompatible materials shat 1 be separated from <br />each other in drain systems. They may be combined when <br />they have been rendered acceptable by an approved means <br />for discharge into the public sewer. <br />F. Flow from the drainage system shall be directed <br />to an approved location. <br />G. Drainage of spillage and fire protection water <br />may be directed to a neutralizer or treatment system. <br />Such system shall comply with the fallowing: <br />i. The system shall be designed to handle the <br />maximum worst case spill from the single largest <br />container plus the volume of fire protection water <br />from the system over the minimum design area for a <br />period of 20 minutes. <br />ii, Overflow from the neutralizer or treatment <br />system shall be provided to direct liquid leakage <br />and fire' protection water to a safe 1 ocati an away <br />from the building, any important valve, means of <br />egress, adjoining property, or fire department access <br />roadway. <br />Ordinance - 27 <br />
