188~t3 <br />diately adjacent to the telephone switchboard in <br />those occupancies having such a facility, in the <br />normal path of exit from the floor or area served, <br />and wherever else required by the fire chief , <br />fie} Fire alarm signals shall be clearly <br />audible throughout each story, and shall be <br />distinctive from all other noise-creating devices <br />and signals, <br />~f} Where automatic fire extinguishing or <br />detection systems are provided, they shall be <br />interconnected with the local fire alarm system to <br />the effect that operation of such automatic system <br />will activate the local fire alarm. <br />EXCEPTION: Single station detection units <br />installed as required by Structural Specialty Code <br />Section 1~10~a} and this section 10,33 of this Code. <br />~l4} Section 10.308 ~d} of the Uniform Fire Code is <br />amended to read: <br />~d} Standards. Fire extinguishing systems <br />shall comply with the Standard for Installation of <br />Sprinkler Systems,NFPA Standard #13, 1978 edition <br />as adopted and copyrighted by the National Fire <br />Protection Association. <br />EXCEPTIONS: <br />1. Automatic fire-~spr inkler systems <br />shall have at least one water supply of ade- <br />quate pressure, capacity and reliability. <br />2, Automatic fire-sprinkler systems may <br />be connected to the domestic water supply main <br />when approved by the chief provided the <br />domestic water supply is of adequate pressure, <br />capacity and slung for the combined domestic <br />and fire sprinkler requirements. In such <br />cases the fire-sprinkler system connection <br />shall be made between the public water ma ~. n or <br />meter and the building shutof f valve and there <br />shall not be intervening valves or <br />connections, The fire department connections <br />may be omitted when approved by the fire chief. <br />3, The sprinkler alarm valve for an <br />automatic fire-sprinkler system may be omitted <br />when the sprinkler system serves less than six <br />heads or where the system is connected to an <br />approved fire alarm system. <br />X15} Section 10.309 of the Uniform Fire Code is <br />amended to read: <br />10._309 Aut,omatic.,,~~rri kler,_,,,5 r~s,~tems. <br />~a} General. Automatic sprinkler systems <br />shall be provided in accordance with the provisions <br />of this section. <br />_~.. <br />
