ORDINANCE NO. 1$88S <br />AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE HOUSE NUMBERING SYSTEM; <br />AMENDING SECTION 8.005 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Subsection ~.5} of Section 8.005 of the. Eugene Code, <br />1971, is hereby amended to provide: <br />8.005 Administrative Code Amendments. The l9?9 edition of <br />the uniform administrative code is amended to pro- <br />vide: <br />~5} Section 206 - Numbering of structures and Premises, <br />is hereby added to provide: <br />Section 206 - Numbering. of S t~~~~ctures and Premises . <br />All numbering of structures. and premises shall be done <br />after assignment of a number by the building official <br />and under his or her direction according to the follow- <br />ing system: <br />~a} The numbering of dwellings and business build- <br />ings shall be done by providing l00 numbers in each black. <br />On streets running east and west, the odd numbers shall <br />be on the north side of the street, and the even numbers <br />on the south side of the street. On streets running <br />north and south, the odd numbers shall be on the east <br />side of the street, and the even numbers on the west <br />side of the street. <br />~_b} All numbers used on dwellings and business <br />buildings shall meet the following criteria: <br />1. Be in arabic numerals not less than <br />2" in height with proportionate width, and con-- <br />. trast with the background on which they are <br />mounted. <br />2. Be mounted within two feet of the main <br />entrance to the building, provided that such place- <br />ment will make them easily visible and readable <br />from the main approaching street. If not, they <br />must be mounted in a location on the building <br />which is visible and readable from the main <br />approaching street. <br />3. If the building itself is not visible from <br />the main approaching street, the numbers must be <br />displayed on the building within two feet of the <br />main building entrance and also at a location <br />which is visible and readable from the main <br />approaching street and which will adequately <br />direct interested parties to the specific build- <br />Qrdinance _ l <br />
