18945 Section 5. Section 4.405 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is hereby amended to read and provide: 4.4 0 5 Impoundment ~- Redem tian and Sale . ~l~ Redemption of an impounded animal shall be made by exhibiting satisfactory proof of ownership and by paying the following required fees and charges: ~a ~ Impoundment fee ; ~.b~ Daily care fee; ~.c~ Z,icense and rabies vaccination fees, if required; and Qd} Medical care fees, if required. ~2~ 2mpounded animals may be sold or released to another governmental agency charged with the regulations management or care of the animal specie. ~3~ when an animal is sold by the dog control auth- ority, the purchaser shall pay any required license and rabies vaccination fees, ~4~ ~~o impoundment charge shall be made for an animal released after the municipal court's determination that no violation occurred. ~5} ~o live dog sha11 be sold by the dog control auth- ority far surgical or medical, demonstration or vivisection. ~6} Except as otherwise provided, if after 12D hours an impounded animal cannot be sold, the dog control authority is authorized and empowered to destroy the animal by any humane method permitted under state law ar this code. Section 6. That the matters contained herein concern the public welfare and safety and therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exists and this .ordinance sha11 become effective immediately upon its passage by the City Council and approval, by the Mayor.
